My craft room needed a makeover so I decided to take it up a notch and create a "Ladies' Lounge". I wanted a space where I could still do crafts but I could do them in style! And I also wanted the ability to have guests over to play my new favorite game and obsession... American Mahjongg.

My Mahjongg room design turned out so well that I wanted to also share with you my advice and ideas for how to create your own dedicated Mahjongg room.

Choosing the right table for a Mahjongg room

A square table anywhere between 36" and 42" is ideal for playing American Mahjongg.

Here are some great Mahjongg table options to consider:

For ultimate flexibility if you want the table to be wider for other uses, you can opt for an expandable table like I did. It quickly and easily converts from square to rectangular.

Selecting comfortable seating for Mahjongg

When you play Mahjongg, you'll be sitting for quite a while, so choose comfortable, cushioned chairs with good back support. And be sure to measure the arm height to be sure they can tuck neatly under the table you choose when not in use.

I like these low-profile rolling chairs. Comfy and cozy and pretty, too!

Creating storage for Mahjongg essentials

Part of the fun of playing Mahjongg is collecting and displaying all the supplies, from the gorgeous tiles to the accompanying mats. You'll want to store them in an organized way, and if it can be beautiful too, why not?

I added a rattan corner cabinet for storing things like tiles, dice, cards. (It also stores some of my other games and craft supplies!)

And to hang those gorgeous themed mats, I got this pretty gold rolling clothes rack. It also has a shelf on the bottom that's great for storing more tiles.

Adding decorative touches to your Mahjongg room

From rattan wall art to the bold wallpaper, I added decorative touches to fit the "Ladies Lounge" vibe I was going for in my Mahjongg room.

The fun and colorful monkeys and pagoda wallpaper is actually our own design, and we teamed up with Limitless Walls to create it. This exclusive design is even available for purchase here if you want to use it in your space. (Use code CHICAANDJO35 for 35% off!)

The wallpaper coordinates perfectly with the Capri mat from "Oh My Mahjongg", and the whole look of this room is completely made for Mahjongg. (P.S. Use my discount code JOMAHJ to get 10% off your Oh My Mahjong order!)

Enjoying your Mahjongg room

I love how vibrant and welcoming my space is now and I can't wait to continue to enjoy many rounds of Mahjongg. All the special touches for comfort and style have turned it into a welcoming place that my friends and I enjoy.
