DIY Christmas Card Holder from Reclaimed Window Grille

When my first Christmas cards started arriving last week, I thought I would create a new way to display them all this holiday season. I didn't want ribbons and frills... just something easy to make with clean lines and a simple design. I scrounged around my stash of reclaimed architectural items and hit the jackpot with a wooden window grille with arched top.
To jazz it up, I reached for some ColorShot spray paint in Speeding Ticket red and Marshmallow white. I also picked up a bag of tiny wooden clothespins to hold the cards in place.
I painted the tiny wooden clothespins with the Marshmallow white.
Then I painted the grille with the Speeding Ticket red.
When everything was dry, I attached the clothespins with a dab of hot glue...
... holding each one in place on the grille until the glue set up.
I spaced the clothespins around the grille evenly, leaving some of them farther apart than others, in order to accommodate larger and smaller cards.
All I have to do is pop each card into a clothespin and that's it!
To finish it off, I wrapped a string of battery-operated fairy lights around the top, and cleverly hid the power box behind one of the cards.
This simple DIY Christmas card holder is easy to fill, and easy to re-use from year to year.
