Our friend Natalie Wright wrote the book, Crafting with Wooden Crates and Pallets: 25 Simple Projects to Style Your Home, and it is full of inspirational ideas. We loved the lemonade stand she made from crates so much that we decided to put our own twist on it and make a fireworks stand. We followed her construction instructions exactly, and just switched out the colors a bit for our theme.

We used a durable multi-surface paint to cover everything with white, then used blue and red to add the stars and stripes. Since we wanted a weathered look, we didn't worry about making our lines solid. This technique also makes it a lot easier to paint!

Once the crates were painted, we embellished with additional decorative touches from Michael's, including patriotic ribbon bunting, ceramic jars, and metal fireworks yard decorations.

Since this fireworks stand is for kids, we limited the fireworks to the safer sparklers and snap pops.

A quickly hand-painted sign and the firewords stand was ready for the kids to set up in the neighborhood.

This fireworks stand can also make a unique decoration and fun kid's activity for a Fourth of July party.
