At a recent garage sale, I found this pair of vintage metal peacock chairs and fell in love at first sight! The lady selling them had started refinishing them but never got around to doing anything with them. I just knew I had to give them some love.

After giving them a thorough spray down with my electric pressure washer (which I love) I simply applied a few coats of orange spray paint. I started with one brand that I shall not name and quickly switched to Rustoleum to finish the job. I should always start with them! Because the chairs were so intricate, it did take me four cans of paint for each chair. And to be honest, I really should go back and do one final coat on each.

I am now in love with these chairs even more! They match my inflatable toucan float perfectly and look fantastic against the blue backdrop of the pool.

I might make some seat cushions out of outdoor fabric in the future to make them a little softer on my rump but for now, the cute toucan throw pillows give it a bit of squish.

I love your idea, I've run out of wall space for placing any art on my walls. Great idea making a craft art for your backyard. It makes a perfect gift for anyone with a pool.

Stephanie, that's a wonderful way to look at finding more room for art!

Hello! Do you remember what shade of orange rust oleum you used to paint your chairs? I just bought a set of four peacock chairs, and you’ve inspired me to paint them orange like yours. Thank you!

Melissa, I'm sorry, but I don't remember the exact color. It was just a really bright tangerine color. I would love to see your chairs after you paint them! Tag us on Instagram or email us a photo.

I have two of these chairs too, except one is a rocker. They have been in the garage for years and I am tired of looking at them. They have a lot of rust so I thought I might have them sand blasted. Trouble is, it is hard to find businesses that do that these days. So I might try your method and see what happens !
