The Frozen craze is still going strong in our house and I am now wondering how many times Mini Me has seen this movie. My girls absolutely love the How the Grinch Stole Christmas advent calendar I made for them a couple of years ago and they look forward to its appearance every year on December 1st. This year, I thought I would make them a Frozen advent calendar.

Like the Grinch calendar, I wanted to base this one on a story, but and looked around and couldn't find a Frozen Christmas story. So, I decided to write my own! The story is about Olaf trying to find Christmas presents for all of his Arendelle friends, and Chica did a great job illustrating it. I let Little Jo help me with the story ideas, but I am keeping the plot a surprise for Mini Me.

To create your own Frozen advent calendar just in time for the Christmas season, you'll need our printable A Very Frozen Christmas story cards.

All of our printables include printing tips and assembly instructions with color photos. All printables are designed to be printed onto standard 8.5″ x 11″ paper. We recommend printing these cards on white cardstock.

 

Once you have the PDF, just print all the pages onto white cardstock.

The PDF also includes extra pages for printing the numbers 1 through 24 on the back of the cards, which will help with the countdown.

Now, you will need to trim the printed images to fit inside the pockets of a 24-pocket clear over-the-door shoe organizer. Go ahead and mark your trimmer where you cut the title page. If you cut the title page right on the edges of the image, you will have the size that will fit into the standard shoe organizer. This is important because some of the backgrounds are white and you won't be able to tell exactly where to cut. Mark now, save a lot of aggravation later!

For durability, I recommend you run each page through a laminator. These things are super handy to have around the house. If you don't have one, add it to your list to Santa! You can also take your pages to your local copy shop and they can laminate them for you.

Trim off the excess lamination and you are ready to start filling your Frozen advent calendar with cards and gifts!

Start with the numbers facing outwards. As you can see, I added a little bit of glitter tape trim to the organizer, just to spice it up a bit.

I also added some snowflake ribbon and foam stickers along the top, just to make it a little more festive.

Next you'll want to stick a little gift in each pocket. I found some Frozen wrapping paper which really helped with the theme of the calendar.

Every day leading up to Christmas, your kids will open a gift, flip over that day's card, and ready a piece of the story. They will have so much fun watching the story unfold.

We use a little stuffed Olaf doll to mark the current day. The DisneyStore.com also has Olafs with a Santa hat on them, but if you can't find one, a regular Olaf doll will also work.

The girls are super excited about their new Frozen advent calendar. I am going to have to hide it from them now until it is time to put it out for real!
