Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie treat hearts
I wanted to share with you some simple yet adorable treats for Valentine’s Day. I made heart-shaped Rice Krispies treats and topped them with giant conversation hearts made out of marshmallow. These are so cute and would be great for giving to your Valentines at home or for a kid to take to a class party.
First, make a pan of Rice Krispie treats but make sure you make them thinner than you normally would. This will be the base layer for your treats. Use a large, heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the treats into hearts.
Next, you will need to make a sheet of homemade marshmallow, again making it thinner than usual. Use the same cookie cutter to create marshmallow hearts.
To make the marshmallows look like conversation hearts, mix a small amount of food coloring with some water and brush the mixture onto the marshmallow heart.
To add the messages, dip a new, wet, flat paintbrush into some gel food coloring and paint on the letters. You can make custom messages or use the traditional conversation heart sayings.
Affix the marshmallow heart to the Rice Krispie heart with some melted Wilton Candy Melts that will act as a glue. I happened to have some “funfetti” candy melts on hand, but you could use plain white or match the color of the heart on top.
Aren’t they adorable? They are a fun and unexpected treat made from kid-approved components.
My kids sure loved these Rice Krispies treats Valentine’s hearts, but I will say that McGeeky also liked the one I that I gave him. That means they are good for kids at heart too!
