I had an American Crafts Heidi Swapp marquee Christmas tree sitting in my craft room, just waiting to be embellished. I decided to make McGeeky a tree for his home office since it is basically the only room in our house that doesn’t already have a tree. He would never consent to having a big tree, but I thought I could sway him with a little one, especially if it was a tech-themed Christmas tree. I got the perfect inspiration from a Short Circuit stencil that looked like a computer motherboard.

First, I removed the insert from the tree and painted it green. After it dried, I placed the Short Circuit stencil on top and added the circuit design with metallic copper paint.

I used silver paint with a writer tip to fill in the little box things at the end of the lines. McGeeky said that was most accurate.

After it was all dry, I put the insert back in the tree. Then I just poked the light covers through and strung the lights and it good to go! McGeeky loves the nod to tech and likes that the tree is small enough to fit on his desk.
