Outdoor bench make-over with colored stain
I purchased a wooden bench a couple of years ago at Hobby Lobby and I use it on my front porch. Even though the porch is covered, the bench has weathered quite a bit, as you can see. I wanted to restore some of its original color to brighten up my porch space.
First, I hammered down the boards that were popping up and then gave it a good cleaning and a light sanding.
I decided to try out the Americana Decor Color Stain on this project since it worked so well on the planters I recently stained. I went with Real Red, Ash Grey, and Chambray for a patriotic spin, and I knew those colors would work nicely with my red front door. You can find Color Stain online or in JoAnn Fabric and Craft stores.
I used a soft cloth to apply the stain and then wiped it back. I added two or three coats of stain, depending on the color intensity I wanted for each color.
I really like this product because it acts as a sealer as well, so my outdoor bench will have a few more good years ahead of it without me having to apply an extra finish to protect it.
