Paint storage cubbie
I was recently inspired by a project I saw on DecoArt’s website, and finally transformed a plain divided crate I had sitting in my craft room into a paint storage unit for the kids.
The first thing I did was take the dividers out of the crate. I was so happy they came out, because it made painting a lot easier!
For the paint, I reached for my trusty bottles of Americana Multi-Surface and started by basecoating the entire box with Cotton Ball.
I wanted to use the crate to store bottles of paint in separate color families, so for painting the cubbies themselves, I picked out a rainbow palette. Plus, the girls love anything rainbow!
I put the dividers back into the crate and started painting each cubbie a different color. I found that basecoating with white first helped the colors pop with only one or two coats, especially on the yellow and orange.
I love how it turned out. It’s so colorful and useful, and provides plenty of storage for the girls’ paint supply. You can fit 4 bottles into each cubbie.
