Jo and I are so happy it’s Thanksgiving, for so many reasons. First and foremost, it’s a day to spend with our families, reflecting on all that we are thankful for. Then there’s the inevitable table full of food, which this year will feature my sloppy sweet potato pie and Jo’s Thanksgiving place cards. There’s football in the yard, the parade on television, and a nice long weekend off from work. And if you’re Jo, there’s an hour or more of poring over the sales circulars to plan your Black Friday shopping!
My 8-yr-old niece, Squirt, is planning most of the menu with my mom this year, and she tasked me with bringing an appetizer to tide the family over before the big meal this evening. As far as she knows, the snacks will be a pretty typical veggie plate and cheese and crackers. However, I also took a cue from A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and I’m serving up snacks that Snoopy would approve of!
If you don’t remember Snoopy’s famous thrown-together Thanksgiving meal of pretzels, popcorn, jelly beans, and toast, then clearly you haven’t watched the show recently enough. I can’t wait to see what Squirt thinks of this!
Jo and I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, and we thank YOU for being such loyal readers!
