- iPhone App Icons (PDF)
We are iPhone addicts here in our house. McGeeky and I both have iPhones and iPads and the girls each have one of our old phones that they use for games (without the phone capability turned on). I have always loved the icons they use for the apps on the iPhone. They are just so darn cute. I thought it would be fun to combine one of the oldest games with such newfangled technology so I made a memory game using the iPhone app icons!
To start, I picked up some 2-inch-square chipboard pieces at my local craft store and painted them gloss black on either side. Next, I printed the app icons onto regular paper. I created a handy downloadable iPhone app template for you to use to save you some time. You’ll want to print two copies of pages 1 and 2 so that you have two of each of the 18 icons, making 36 pieces total. Print three copies of page 3, the Apple icons, so that you have enough for the backs of all 36 pieces.
I used DecoArt’s Triple Thick to “glue” the cut-outs onto the painted chipboard pieces and then coated the top with it. The Triple Thick is a very durable coating that gives a nice, gloss finish. (You can read more product info here.) I like how the glossy finish makes it look like the images are on a screen! Allow the icons to dry for 24 hours before flipping them over to put the apple images on the backs.
In the pictures, I’m only showing you half of the tiles (one of each) just so I could get them all in there! I love how this game turned out!
You play this game just like any other memory game — put the cards all face down on the table, with the apple images showing. Then players take turns flipping over two cards. If they match, you keep them. If not, you flip them back over. The person with the most matched pairs at the end wins!

I love this idea. I don’t have any children, so I think I would like to print them a little larger and put on tiles. Use them when we go camping to set hot pots or pans on. Or even as coasters.
Thanks and have a great week!
ohh, these would be so cute printed on dark transfer paper and put on a black t-shirt. I love my iphone.
