12 days of Christmas giveaways – Day 1: Conductive Thread Posted by Chica
December 14, 2011

Jo and I are so excited about Christmas this year that we wanted to share our joy with you all, so we’re going to have 12 days of Christmas giveaways leading up Christmas! Be sure to check back in each day for a chance to win whatever we’re giving away. We have a bunch of fun items in store for you over the next week and a half, and you’re all gonna flip out over the big prize we have for the last day!

Day 1: Conductive Thread

Today we’re giving away one-yard lengths of our conductive thread to THREE lucky winners! What’s conductive thread? Well, it’s thread that’s got metallic particles built in which let low levels of electricity flow through it, which means that you can use it to turn regular gloves into iPhone gloves using our tutorial! With a few quick stitches, you can convert gloves you already own into something that will work with your touch-screen device.

All you need to do to enter is leave a comment below. We’ll randomly draw three winners tomorrow morning.

If you don’t win the giveaway, remember that you can purchase conductive thread in our store. Don’t let those fingers get cold this winter by taking your gloves off to make a call!

RULES: One entry per person (determined by e-mail address). Three winners will be chosen at random from all valid comments received by the deadline. Winners will be contacted via e-mail within 72 hours of giveaway end date. Winners must reply within one week with a mailing address or prize will be forfeited and new winner will be chosen. Giveaway open to US residents only and prize will only be shipped to a US address. Rules and deadline subject to change without notice.

12/15 This giveaway is now over. And the WINNERS are:

Congratulations to Nikole, Amanda, and Jennifer, the three winners of our first giveaway! Ladies, we’ll be contacting you today to get your info so we can ship your prizes out right away.

Thanks to everyone who entered, and remember that we still sell this thread in our store, and it’s an inexpensive and easy way to convert your regular gloves so you can keep those hands warm this winter. And remember to check back on the site every day from now through Christmas, because we still have 11 more great giveaways to come!

We're sorry, but comments are closed for this post.

I’m not sure this is a good thing. What happens if your gloves get wet? What else can this be used for? I don’t have an I-phone, my question is: Can’t you use the screen with gloves on?

Jill, the new touch screen devices like the iPhone rely on the static electricity present in your body to transmit signals to the screen. When you have gloves on, they prevent this from happening so you can’t answer your phone or send texts, which can be frustrating! The metallic fibers in the thread allow the static to pass through so that you can still register touches on the screen. The thread itself isn’t dangerous when wet, and doesn’t generate any electricity on its own. :)

I gave up crafting in favor of “more long lasting projects” like quilting and knitting long ago. You (and only this site)have lured me back. This thread is a wonderful idea and thanks for your giveaway. Would love to win this!
