Giveaway – Silhouette SD electronic cutter Posted by Chica
April 21, 2011
Chica

As you know, I recently got a Silhouette SD electronic cutter, and I love it. I’ve already told you how easy it is to create custom die cut designs with this machine, and I’ve got many more projects planned with it. We don’t want you guys to feel left out of the fun, though, so…

We’re giving away a Silhouette SD to one lucky winner!

Silhouette SD electronic cutter

That’s right. One of you is going to own a Silhouette SD, which means you’ll be able to:

  • Create your own designs
  • Cut any font installed on your computer
  • Purchase designs online one at a time (no cartridges!)
  • Cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric, and more

I know, I can hardly believe it myself. But wait, there’s more! The new thing at Silhouette these days is their rhinestones. They’ve come up with a clever way to cut templates with the Silhouette that you can use to easily line up rhinestones into a design. Then you transfer them onto fabric, iron them on, and you get amazing results like this:

Silhouette rhinestone project

Check out Silhouette’s quick rhinestones instructions to see how it works, or check out their blog for a complete tutorial that shows you the process. It’s quite an innovative idea!

We’re going to throw in a Silhouette rhinestone starter kit in this giveaway, along with some extra rhinestones and a handy “Pick Me Up” tool that makes it even easier to work with those sparkly little gems.

I can hardly keep track of all these great items, but here’s the prize bundle — valued at almost $350 — that the winner is going to get:

  • A Silhouette SD
  • 2 sheets of rhinestone template material
  • 2 sheets of rhinestone transfer tape
  • 2 rhinestone backing boards
  • 1 rhinestone placement brush
  • 1 CD of rhinestone images
  • 1 pack of clear 10ss rhinestones
  • 1 pack of clear 16ss rhinestones
  • 1 pack of clear 20ss rhinestones
  • 1 pack of pink 10ss rhinestones
  • 1 Pick-Me-Up tool

And if you don’t feel lucky this week and want to go ahead and buy your own Silhouette, we’ve got a great deal for you. From today through the 26th only, you get this same bundle of products, normally a $349 value, for a special price of $229! Just visit SilhouetteAmerica.com and add the Silhouette Rhinestone Bundle to your cart and enter promo code CHICAJO to get the discounted price. Those of you who already have a Silhouette and want to try out the rhinestones can also shop SilhouetteAmerica.com and automatically get 30% off all loose rhinestones!

So how do you win this awesome prize?

The possibilities with the Silhouette SD are endless, and we’d love to hear your ideas. Leave a comment below telling us what you would use your Silhouette for. We’ll randomly pick one of you as the winner. It’s as easy as that!

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 11:59 PM, EST.

RULES: One entry per person (determined by e-mail address). One winner will be chosen at random from all valid comments received by the deadline. Winner will be contacted via e-mail within 72 hours of giveaway end date. Winner must reply within one week with a mailing address or prize will be forfeited and new winner will be chosen. Giveaway open to US residents only and prize will only be shipped to a US address. Rules and deadline subject to change without notice.

winner

WINNER: Congratulations to our winner, Lindsey Mozek!
Her comment was:

143. Lindsey Mozek: I’d use it for gifts, parties, home decor and so much more! I usually hand cut everything bc a personal cutter is not in my budget.

Lindsey, you are going to love this machine so much! You can give your scissors a rest and let the Silhouette do your cutting for you a lot more often.

For those of you who didn’t win, thanks so much for taking the time to enter. We love all of your great ideas, and were inspired by many of them! We hope the rest of you will still consider purchasing a Silhouette SD when your budget allows. They are amazing and offer such endless possibilities for crafting! Stay tuned for more Silhouette projects from us.

We're sorry, but comments are closed for this post.

I’ve been itching to get one of these babies! I love that I can take my own computer graphics and make cut-outs of them. I have 3 girls (the 3 boys wouldn’t care as much LOL)and after seeing this they all want me to get it so they can play too! LOL My oldest daughter has a friend with it (that’s how I heard about it) and she eats, sleeps, breathes Silhouette! LOL She can not sing praises enough for it!

WOW!! So many uses for that thing! I have a five year old in kindergarten who LOVES to make cards and a little girl on the way! I could definitely make adorable onesies for her and make decals for her nursery walls! The 5 yr-old wants to redecorate his room with a “Rock and Roll” theme so I can cut out some guitars and flames for his walls! And of course, I LOVE to make shirts for myself and my friends! The rhinestones would definitely come in handy there! Thanks so much for the chance!

  79. joanne matsunaga said: (April 21st, 2011 at 6:37 pm)

    I would love this.
I’ve been wanting to cut out letters that read:
Before she grew up and moved away, a little girl lived here. And put it on the wall of my daughter’s room, which is now my granddaughter’s room when she visits.

Then since my granddaughter took after her grandmother (yours truly) and loves glitz and glitter, I’d like to create my own designs for rhinestone studded shirts for both of us.

This machine sounds better than a cricut-which I don’t have.

Oh, wow! You are about to make some crafty person really happy. I’m so into stencils. Being able to download all kinds of inexpensive designs from the web and cut the vinyl would be freaking heaven.

And, I hear it cuts interfacing and fabric. That has got to make appliqueing and quilting a whole lot more interesting

Now they have bling, too? You guys have the best giveaways.

  125. Laura McCann said: (April 22nd, 2011 at 1:02 pm)

I have a friend that has a Silhouette. She graciously allows me to use hers to cut everything I saved up, but our visits are too short and far between. I was saving for my own last year, but unfortunately lost my job and it was put on back burner. Recently, my husband and I have started a trucking company. In addition to all the cards, stencils, and vinyl designs, I could DEFINITELY use a new Silhouette SD to cut the DOT signage for our 18 wheelers! (It tends to get pricey when you take it to a sign shop!)

Thanks for sharing all your wonderful and creative ideas!

With the rhinestone feature I would love to embellish clothing, but also items around my daughters room, such as her certains and make pretty fabric swatches I can mat and fre for decorations. Good luck to all, even though I hope you pick me, LOL!

I also teach computer crafting classes using software and a cutter…I no longer wish to support “the other guys” by promoting their product in my lab, so am looking for another cutter that is moderately priced but has a lot of features that scrapbookers, computer and paper crafters would enjoy.

    Thanks!

Well with this machine I could cut bigger projects ..and expand what I could create. Since I am very new to cutters…I am still amazed at what my little Cricut can do. My Cricut is a 6 incher…is is OK for card making but sometimes a gal wants to make bigger things.I have been watching all the folks go out and buy new cutters because they are unhappy with Cricut… my situation doesn’t allow me to do that…so being able to win a new machine with the potential that this one has…would be wonderful.
Guess I better cross my fingers, toes, and my eyes for luck!

I’d like to win this so I can help the community I’m a part of … I work with those who have Congenital Heart Defects and I myself was born with 5 of them over 29 years ago … and it gets pretty expensive with the different foundations, and children involved to make shirts or posters for all of them … but this would be a great way I can make them free of charge and such since it would be something I won … I hope to win not only for myself but for my community!!

I would use the Silhouette SD electronic cutter to create beautiful projects for my etsy shop. I love to create, and as a mama to 3 young toddlers (aged 3, 2, and 1!), time is really precious! It would be amazing to have a product like this, because not only would it help me make more sophisticated products, it would help me use my time more efficiently!

I would use it to make cards and the occasional banner. Would have been great to have made a banner for my nephew’s train themed 2nd birthday. I love the flexibility you have to arrange how it will fit and how many will fit on a page!

Wow, a Silhouette would be an amazing prize. I really want one in my home, as I would like to cut out words made from many fonts off my computer.

Hi! What a neat contest. Glad I found it in time to enter! One of my favorite things I’ve heard about a Silhouette is using it for vinyl decor–something I’m interested in getting into myself.

Our Eagles Club is hosting the NYS Convention this year. We’re a small group and don’t have money to provide a bunch of “extras” for the convention attendees…things like notepads! I stumbled upon your site, and have ordered the glue to make our own customized notepads for the convention! We need about 200 notepads, and this machine would make the task so easy!!! If I win, we’ll definitely acknowledge you and your site at the convention!!!

I think the first thing I would try would be the rhinestone patterns and then some card making.

Oh my gosh! How I would love one of these. Not only would I use it for my scrapping & card making, but I’d use it for projects with my grandson, too. He’s almost 2 and loves to help me make things for Mommy. I could cut out flowers for a mother’s day vase. Or we could make finger puppets or puppets on a stick with animal cut-outs. So much we could do with one of these! Thanks for such a great give-away!

I would love to own a personal cutter. I have lusted after them forever but could never justify the cost. Especially of having to buy all of the extra cartridges for the other brands. Not worth it having a toddler in the house. Home made cards and presents are awesome!

i would use it to make awesome birthday cards for my friends and family!
