Sequin Decorated Easter Eggs

Chica and I wanted to come up with some alternatives for decorating eggs besides using traditional dyes. We love regular dyed eggs, but we like a little variety around here. We started thinking of unique techniques and came up with a fun idea — what about sequins?
All you need to make glittery sequin-covered eggs is some Styrofoam eggs, some tiny satin pins, and a big pile of loose sequins.
To attach the sequins, start by putting a satin pins through the hole in the sequin.
Then just stick the pin into the Styrofoam egg.
Continue until the egg is covered, overlapping the sequins slightly if needed in order to cover the white egg beneath. Note that tender fingertips may hurt after pushing a few dozen pin heads, so you may want to reach for a thimble to make things easier.
This is great craft for kids, because it tunes their fine motor skills, is super easy to learn, and has sparkly results they're sure to love.

I LOVE the seqiun eggs!! Would this be easy enough for Junior Girl Scouts (3rd and 4th grade) to do?
Audra, we think they would definitely be easy enough for them to make. Chica's niece helped her do the sequin ball and she is only 6. I'm a Daisy Troop leader myself and now I think I might let my girls try it out!

I made these with my Junior Girl Scouts and they LOVED it! One thing I learned: I had to either use Beading Pins or put a seed bead on the silk pin before the sequin. Otherwise th sequins fell off. (Applique pins worked perfectly with a seed bead, too.)

Charlotte, we recommend buying Styrofoam that's already in an egg shape. You can find them at just about any craft store.
