A friend of ours was recently inspired by the Candyland party that Jo threw for Little Jo several years ago, and is planning to use the same theme for her child’s upcoming birthday party. While she loved our original party ideas, she thought maybe we could spice it up a little with a few new projects, and of course we took the challenge. We have a couple of new Candyland ideas that we’ll share with you this week, and the first of those is Candyland party pennants.
The first thing you’ll need to make these awesome pennants is our free Candyland pennant template. Don’t you just love our downloads? We like to make things as easy as possible on you guys! This one has two pages. The first page is an outline of a candy man that looks like the playing pieces from the game. You’ll want to print this directly onto 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock in red, yellow, green, and blue to match the colors of the game pieces from Candyland. Print as many of these as you want, depending on how long you want your string of pennants to be.
The second page of the template has some colorful striped pieces that resemble the trail on the Candyland game board. Print this page onto regular white cardstock, and print enough sheets so that you’ll have as many strips as you do candy men. Remember that there are four strips on a page.
Once you’ve got everything printed out, grab a pair of scissors and turn the TV onto a good show and then cut, cut, cut until you have a pile of cute little guys and fun, colorful strips.
Now grab your trusty Crop-a-Dile (or whatever eyelet setter you happen to own) and a pile of eyelets and get ready to start putting this thing together. You’re going to attach the colorful strips to the candy men’s hands, eventually making a big chain.
Put an eyelet at each place where a strip meets a hand.
Be careful not to set the eyelets too tight so that the pieces can be moved on each joint. This will help you later when you hang the string of pennants. Just give the Crop-a-Dile a half squeeze so it doesn’t press too tightly.
All that’s left to do now is hang your string of Candyland men on the wall. Don’t you just love it? You could even personalize this banner by spelling out the birthday girl or boy’s name on the candy men!
Remember that we have lots more ideas in our original Candyland party post. And don’t forget to make your Candyland party complete with matching accessories and decorations like Candyland favor boxes, Candyland party ware, and Candyland stickers.

i like this one…smiles
Aside from parties, the pennant would be great for teaching colors, too. Great ideas as always!
