Butterbeer for St. Patrick’s Day Posted by Jo

St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday and that means lots and lots of green and celebrating. A universally loved way to celebrate is by drinking green beer, but some people in my household (all of us) don’t like beer. So, I wanted an alternative drink for us for Thursday, and that is when I thought to add blue food coloring to our favorite non-alcoholic alternative, Butterbeer!

I used our standard recipe for Butterbeer and just added a few drops of the blue to the cream soda before adding the foamy cream on top. The cream soda is yellow enough that when you add the blue, you end up with green. This is a tasty treat as well as fun little color-mixing lesson for the kids at the same time! Doesn’t it look festive? McGeeky wanted me to color the cream as well but I like having just the soda green.

NOTE: I will be updating our Butterbeer recipe soon for you guys. I did a lot more research this last trip to Universal and have a few tweaks to make!
