My iPhone case cracked recently, so I was in the market for a new one. At the recommendation of my friend Rita, I picked up a iSkin Solo clear iPhone case in blue. I absolutely love this silicone case because it offers great grip but still slides easily in a pocket. The stretchy, rubbery, silicone wraps around the edges of the phone and if feels so much protected than it did with my old, hard, plastic case.
There’s just one problem. My iPhone is black, and the clear blue case doesn’t show up very brightly on top of black. As you can see, the silver Apple logo gives it a good background, and you see the pretty blue, but the rest of the case is dull and dark. And just look how gorgeous the blue is when solid white paper is behind it! I wanted more of that bright blue!
So I cut some white cardstock down to 2-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ and used my corner rounder punch to smooth out each corner.
Then I used some scissors to cut a little notch in one corner for the camera lens, and tested that the card fit into the case.
When I put the case back on the phone, I was delighted at how much brighter the blue was!
Here’s the thing, though. As pretty as the blue was now, the case was still awfully plain. I figured I could decorate it, so I grabbed my favorite Zentangle books for inspiration. It only took me and my fine-point Sharpie about 10 minutes to transform the plain card into a Zentangle masterpiece!
I am so in love with my iPhone case now!
While I’m on the subject of iPhones, I just have to tell you guys about the new cases I found recently. You can now get cases just look just like an Etch-a-Sketch for your iPhone 3G and 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPad. Oh man, if I had an iPad I would be buying one of these cases immediately!

I really need to get those Zentangle books! Looks as though they would raise my doodling skills to a whole new level.
Love this!!! Makes me want to do the same with my LG!
Love zentangles. The link to the books seems to be wrong…I’m just seeing a corner rounder on Amazon.
Oops, must have been a copy/paste error! Thanks for letting us know, Ruby. I’ve fixed the link
What a great idea! I found this through a pin on Pinterest and did one for myself. Today I’m blogging about my phone and have provided a link back to you too. Thanks!!!
