Giveaway – ColorArtz starter kit Posted by Jo
September 9, 2010
Jo

ColorArtz airbrush kitFirst, let’s congratulate, Bethany, the winner of the notepad making kit from our last giveaway!  Let’s hope she gets to scratch “organize closet” off a to-do list she makes!

For our next giveaway, we have FIVE ColorArtz- Airbrush Starter Kit to give away to FIVE lucky people!

Yesterday, we showed you how we used Colorartz to airbrush some fun socks and the cover of a scrapbook album.  We had so much fun using this simple, easy airbrush system that we just had to let some of you guys have some fun as well! The simple, snap-in paint pouch requires minimal set-up and provides quick color changes with virtually no clean-up. Plus, the paint is non-toxic and eco-friendly. You can use it on other things besides fabric, such as wood, ceramic, metal, glass, and plastic.  Just think of the endless possibilities!

The starter kits we’re giving away contain a ColorArtz airbrush, a can of propellant, and three paints pouches — everything needed to complete a project!  The paint colors included are Mango Tango (orange), Gremlin (apple green) and Purple People Eater (dark purple).

Want to see ColorArtz in action?  Check out Terri O’s videos at Testors for a host of ideas.  These videos will also let you see the system in action.  You can see just how easy it is to use.  She shows you how you can use ColorArtz to give new life to items you already have in your home that might not work with your color scheme anymore or that you are just bored looking at.  Here is a sampling of some of her finished products. I just love those candle holders!

ColorArtz recycled items

And like I said, we’re giving away FIVE ColorArtz airbrush starter kits! Five lucky winners will each get a kit to make their own airbrush creations at home.

So how do you win this awesome prize?

I’m sure you’ve all got great ideas racing around your head now on how you would use this kit. Just leave a comment below and tell us what item your first airbrush project would be.

The deadline for entries is Friday, September 24, 2010, at 11:59 PM, EST.

RULES: One entry per person (determined by e-mail address). Five winners will be chosen at random from all valid entries received by the deadline. Winners will be contacted via e-mail within 48 hours of giveaway end date. Winner must reply within one week with a shipping address or prize will be forfeited. If a winner’s shipping address is outside of the USA, that winner will be responsible for shipping costs.

WINNERS: Congratulations to our five lucky winners!

49. Cindy: My son just put a bid in on his first house so I am going to make him a rag quilt as a house warming gift. I was going to embroider a cat on each square instead of the traditional X but am thinking this will save me so much time instead of embroidering 240 cats on squares LOL

40. Joanne: My first project would be a T-shirt for myself I am a huge Alex O’Loughlin/Moonlight fan and I would make myself a shirt with the moon (not with sharp edges but kinda blurry like the t.v show picture) and Moonlight written over it. Half in a dark color, half in a light color. Hard to explain. I am still in mourning for loss of that show.

145. Daniel M: would love to paint the side of my computer case

114. Peggy: In our family we are expecting to grand babies with in a month of each other. I would love to airbrush a wall hanging for their nurseries.

24. Baye: Oh, I want this!! Let’s see…trying to decide ONE thing is hard. I really want to use it to create fabric for projects. It seems like an easy way to get some personalized designs both freehand and with stencils. I’m thinking that if I cut out pieces of cardboard or stencil plastic in large curves or angles, it would make some really interesting fabric.

Thanks to everyone else who entered. We enjoyed hearing what you would do with the ColorArtz kits and can’t wait to try a few of your ideas as well.

For those of you who didn’t win, please keep an eye on our giveaways page for our next giveaway!

We're sorry, but comments are closed for this post.

Scarves and gloves for the kids, they always seem to get lost. Something fun, funky, and unique I think they would keep better track of.

  26. Jan said: (September 9th, 2010 at 4:16 pm)

I’d probably try a t-shirt, before it was stolen by my son, the artist. He’d go nuts with it. In fact, if I don’t win I’ll buy him one for Christmas!

  27. LauraJ said: (September 9th, 2010 at 4:32 pm)

Most definitely a t-shirt. Been looking like something like this for a while. Thanks for both posts about it!

The Colorartz would be a terrific addition to the craft supplies that I keep for my grandkids (15 of them). We enjoy doing crafts together and this would be perfect. I tried to find it in the store (AC Moore) and they don’t have it on stock yet. I can’t wait till they get it in.

My first project would be the white light globes that I have stored in the basement – they were $1 at a garage sale and I have been wondering what to do with them. I could spray them with different themes and then replace them on the light posts outside throughout the year!

  36. Debbi Miller said: (September 9th, 2010 at 11:19 pm)

The first airbrush equipment I used was in Graphic Arts class in high school. This was 1978 and it involved a huge loud air compressor but it sure was fun!! Fast forward to the future and I would use it on the bags I make!! I love the fact it is so easy to use!!! Aloha

  37. Amy said: (September 9th, 2010 at 11:20 pm)

WOW! So many things I could do. Although i think I would airbrush a wall design in my daughter’s room.

  38. cheryl said: (September 9th, 2010 at 11:53 pm)

My first airbrush project would be a doll I am making. She is a dragonfly sculpted with paper clay. We have an old fashioned air brush and it can REALLY be a pain. This looks so much simpler to use.

  39. Susan said: (September 9th, 2010 at 11:54 pm)

I think the ColorArtz set would be great for spraying the glass Christmas ornaments I have for a project. I want to paint scenery on them. I also have a wooden sleigh to paint for a door decoration. :) Great looking product.

This looks like a wonderful product. I use the copic airbrush for mixed media work. This system would add an additional deminision to my art.

  42. jessie said: (September 9th, 2010 at 11:56 pm)

Wow, thanks for the chance to win this awesome prize.

I don’t know where to begin with the different projects one could make, but giving my daughter’s dresser a makeover using this system sure comes to mind quickly.

  43. jeanne said: (September 9th, 2010 at 11:57 pm)

I can think of so many altered projects and home decor items to airbrush.
Thanks for the chance to win!

  53. taraeire said: (September 10th, 2010 at 8:09 am)

I’ve always wanted to try doing airbrushing but the compressors were so exspensive! This seems like it would be much easier to use. I’d love to get that soft spray effect on fabric. Susan Shie does such fabulous quilts using airbrush and air pens. I think, If I won the set, I could finally try my hand at my own version of a quilt.
I’m sure my daughter would be happy to use it as well. Instead of painting her clothes with acrylic paint, she could airbrush them. Last year, she made an “inside out” outfit for one of her spirit days at school. She painted her shirt and pants to look like the inside of her body (organs , muscles, bones)and it was well received. She’s already working on ideas for this year’s spirit days and the costumes for the Homecomming float.

  54. MAry Norman said: (September 10th, 2010 at 9:14 am)

Wow! oh and solid color towels turned into unique beach towels after spraying on beach designs; shells, waves, surfer! I also thought of a solid color sheet, possible white, and “tie dyed” (love the look) and made into a shower curtain. Shall I go on?

My first airbrush project would be to decorate/finish my son’s indoor playhouse. We build him a bed a few years ago that is in the shape of a house (the bed was inside the house) and now that he has a bunk bed in his bedroom, his house bed was gutted and now just a play house in his play room. We never finished painting it and this would be a GREAT way to add special touches!

I’d have to treat myself (which we do not do enough of!) by adding a personalization to my new Kindle cover (TY for the pattern! http://www.chicaandjo.com/2009/09/03/make-a-custom-kindle-cover-case/ )…then we’d create signs and tee-shirts for our Kids for a Cure team for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life…and jackets for a non-profit equestrian organization for some kids I work with…and of course my daughter would finally get that full-wall-rainbow in her room (I’d better order more paint already!)…and the list goes on (and is now even longer after looking over some of the great ideas in this contest!) =)

My son loves the planets and stars and has those plastic planets and stars stuck to his ceiling. We have the textured ceilings, so things don’t stick to it well and his stars keep falling off. After using the airbrush system this weekend at CCUs Youth Festival, my son has figured out that he could use the air brush system to paint his own solar system on his ceiling!! If we win, that is the first thing we will do. He is right, the airbrush would work great over all the bumps and stuff on his ceiling!! Since we live on such a limited budget, I thought that I could create all of our greeting cards…I could make one of a kind gifts like designing mugs, towels, make up bags, socks, keepsake boxes, checkbook covers, plain tote bags, cloth napkins and napkin rings, frames…all sorts of stuff to give as gifts!!

I would love to airbrush a pair of converse sneakers with my kids. They would love to personalize their own clothes and shoes. This is an awesome airbrush kit! Both of my kids enjoyed personalizing pencils at the CCU youth festival.

Well I’m planning some epic costumes, so I would probably learn to use the air brush for body painting and zombie make up. I’ve also been learning how to use stencils with multiple layers, and an airbrush would turn my hours of sponging into a an easy dream! (esp on my back!!) Plus we just got a small air compressor too, and i have my own studio in the house too! I could have endless fun with this hot little baby (not to mention my birthday is the 25th, what a great surprise that would be since we don’t have any money for birthday goodies this year)

  107. JennyP said: (September 13th, 2010 at 2:34 pm)

  108. Becky S said: (September 13th, 2010 at 2:40 pm)

I”ve always wanted to airbrush, even bought some supplies a few years ago and the cleanup and color changing intimidated me. This sounds perfect! First up would be a huge art canvas above our couch.

  109. Katie said: (September 13th, 2010 at 3:29 pm)

I’m not entirely sure, but I know it would be on a wooden canvas!

Ooh . . . I wonder if it can do paper? I kept seeing airbrushing in these “how to draw manga” books I borrowed from the library . . . maybe do some shading or accents . . . or I can just decorate a shirt.

    Thanks for doing this contest!

I have 2 projects in mind, first I am re-doing my bedroom and wanted to do some art on the main wall, but haven’t found anything I like for sale, this would be the perfect tool to use! Secondly, I built my five (5) dogs a kennel into the garage and the plywood looks so boring, I would love to add some art to that for them(well really for me!) and this would also be a great way to use this set! I am thinking a snoopy theme or maybe chasing cats up a tree!!!

  130. KJ said: (September 16th, 2010 at 10:08 am)

Wow! the possibilities seem quite limitless. Maybe for the first project we would do a fabric grocery bag OR the Magic Folding Cube OR decorate some wooden dolls (birds…) or…

I am sure it will be fun to start the airbrush project.

    thanks for the ideas.

I do spacepaintings such as these http://www.myspacepaintings.com/user/gallery/view/id_2729/name_creakinator/ . I hope the link works without you having to sign in but you can google spacepainting and so others work. This would be a great way for me to add accents (stars, fuzziness, etc) to the paintings without having to worry about the spray paint can spitting out globs of paint instead of specks of paint.
