One of our readers, Michelle, recently spotted my post on ideas for a baseball-themed wedding and really liked the baseball bride and groom logo I had created for my friend to use as the logo for her wedding. Michelle and her fiance are planning a similarly-themed wedding, but including lots of sports, not just baseball. She asked me if I could modify the sketch to show football and basketball, instead of baseball. Fortunately, this was a quick change and I was happy to oblige. Here’s what I came up with:
If you’re planning your own sports-themed wedding, feel free to use this sketch as part of your design. Our favorite way to use something like this is to create your own custom rubber stamp for decorating your invitations and envelopes.
A reception focusing on football might also benefit from our previous tutorials for making a giant football field rug or a football field table runner. And Oh! I just thought of something! You could use the same technique to make a football field aisle runner for the ceremony. I absolutely love that idea!
Here are a couple of really cool sports-themed wedding items I also found that you might like. The wedding frisbee would be a great favor at an outdoor reception, and would also make a really fun invitation to a BBQ rehearsal dinner if you wrote the details on the back. The “Linked in love” golf balls would be a cute favor, and if you wrote the guests’ names on the flags (or on the grass), they could serve as placecards.
This football cake pan would make a fun groom’s cake and these mini basketballs would make awesome favors, especially for the kids!
Another great idea for a groom’s cake or the main cake at your wedding is cupcakes decorated with our sports-themed Cupcake Collars!
We even found a Web site dedicated to helping you plan your sports themed wedding, check out Sports Themed Weddings. They’ve collected a slew of wonderful ideas for you to use no matter which sport you love.
