If Little Jo had her way on vacation, our car would be completely filled with items she found on the beach, at a restaurant, in our condo, at the grocery store, etc. She loves to collect things and each item is a treasure to her. To me, each item is something I am going to have to sneakily dispose of a couple of months from now to keep my house from overflowing! This year, I brought along a clear acrylic paint can for her to fill up with whatever treasures she found. I told her that she was allowed to bring back anything that she could fit into the can. My husband quickly added that it must not be alive. That’s why I married that man, he’s smart. I plan to help Little Jo decorate the outside of it when we return home so I will make sure to post the finished picture. I am thinking of it as a 3-D scrapbook!

What a neat idea! Where did you find the clear paint cans?

Kelli, I found it on Amazon! I have such an Amazon addiction, it’s sad really. I need to find an online support group for it! Click here to see the one I bought.
Heh. Chuckles at the “not alive” stipulation. VERY smart. And the can is a great idea, too! That would have been SO hard for me when I was a kid because I’d always want to bring back bags and bags of shells, but it might have taught me a valuable lesson in sorting through and choosing *the best ones* if I’d had it!
Great idea about limiting the amount of treasures to fit in that beautiful container without it making Little Jo feel as if she’s being limited! So glad y’all are having such a fantastic time!
How fun! Your husband’s stipulation made me laugh — very smart indeed!
