The time is finally here… the time Jo and I have been waiting for since last summer… we are finally headed to Sanibel, Florida for our vacation of fun in the sun. We are so excited!
We’re finishing our packing today and leaving tonight, and we’ll be there for a week. You’re still going to hear from us while we’re gone, though. We’ve got lots of fun stuff planned (like the pirate-themed treasure hunt we’ve been telling you about), and we’re going to let you know how it’s going all week. We’re also going to stop by our favorite craft store on the island, Three Crafty Ladies, and see if we can’t stir up some crafty trouble! We’ve even got plans for our own version of The Amazing Race, done Sanibel-style, kind of like the one we did a couple years ago.
We’ll talk to you soon, probably poolside with a drink in our hands!

Don’t forget the sunscreen. It has been sunny and humid for a bit now. The water is beautiful though!
Have a great time and just so you know it is hotter than you know what out here in FL. Sanibel is just down the road from me about 90 miles or so. Sure hope you didn’t forget to take along your sunscreen because you will surely need it!

Sanibel Island has always been our favorite spot! I was born, raised and continue to live on the east coast of Florida, but I love the west coast, especially Sanibel. When my kids were little, we would often stay 10 days to 2 weeks. My parents always go for lengthy stays.
There is a great thrift shop on the island called Noah’s Ark, its behind a church on the main road. They are open Tuesdays and Fridays in the summer and in August they have a bag sale which is so much fun!! We’ve been all different times of the year, but I think that May and June are my favorite, before it gets too hot, however, this year, we will be heading down for the bag sale. I also love Three Crafty Ladies and I have to always buy something when I’m there.
We stay at Mitchell’s SAndcastles because they take pets and we have 2 small dogs. It’s on the west end of the island, whcih I like the best for shells and sunsets.
Sanibel is a magical place that I’ve been going to since I was a teen, its a good place to forget all troubles.
