I’ll bet most of you are headed to a cookout or picnic of some sort this weekend, in celebration of Memorial Day, and most likely you are taking a dish with you. I know I have two dozen eggs in the fridge just waiting to be turned into my awesome deviled eggs for the cookout at my folks’ house on Sunday.
As you prepare your dish for traveling to the event, you’ll probably reach for some plastic wrap or foil to cover it. But if you’re open to a more eco-friendly — not to mention adorably cute — alternative, check this out:
Allyson over at Allyson Hill has created travel covers for bowls and platters out of gorgeous fabric! Reusable, washable, and pretty, these are a great alternative to plastic for short-term food storage.
She talks about the project here and has a wonderfully detailed tutorial with photos here.
This looks like a pretty easy project, and you probably already have the supplies you need at home. If you’ve got some free time tonight, you can make one in time for this weekend’s cookout!
