My niece is having an Easter egg hunt in a couple of weeks, and my sister asked me for help with an invitation. She wanted something simple and cute, and the first thing that came to mind was the Easter Bunny himself hunting for eggs with binoculars. After some sketching on the computer, I soon had a really cute design that my niece and sister both love. And because I made it a nice download-and-print template, it’s easy for you to make these invitations, too!
Once you’ve downloaded our free template, just print it onto white cardstock. You’ll need to print one page for each invitation you want. Then you have a choice about how to cut them out, depending on how much work you want to put into this. The way I like best is to use scissors (we love Cutter Bees for this) to cut the bunny out and have a non-traditional shape to your invitation. However, if you need to save some time, just use a paper trimmer (or scissors) to cut along the black outline, making a rectangular invitation. Either way works, and it’s up to you to choose!
Did you notice those two gray rings on the template, too? Those are for an optional extra element you can add to the invitation to really put it over the top — lenses for the binoculars! If you want to use them, go ahead and cut them out. You’ll need two rings for each invitation. Then search around the house and find some clear plastic. You can use package wrapping, a zip-top bag, or even some packing tape that’s been doubled over on itself. Anything clear and flexible will do.
Now put some glue on the back of the paper rings. I used Scotch scrapbooker’s glue for this, which held really well. You could also try low-temp hot glue or anything that would adhere well to plastic. Then stick the rings onto the plastic.
When they are dry, cut them out and you’ll have two plastic lenses ready to add to your otherwise-boring binoculars.
Just put another line of glue on the back and place them over top of the printed rings on the invitation. I just love the extra “oomph” these lenses provide!
Now write the party details on the cute little bunny’s ear and you’re done! The invitation will fit perfectly into a standard 5 3/4″ x 8 3/4″ envelope.
