Giveaway – Non-stick scissors Posted by Jo
January 29, 2010
Jo

First, let me congratulate Jennifer, lucky number 7 commenter, who won our most recent giveaway and will be receiving a football party kit full of lots of goodies, including our football-themed Cupcake Collars designs!

Now I’d like to announce our next giveaway. This one will have TWO winners, because we’re giving away TWO sets of non-stick scissors!

Scissors

These aren’t just normal scissors. They have super, secret powers.  Okay, maybe not super powers exactly but we have found that they are NON-STICK!!!!  This is great for all the projects where we use the super sticky double-sided red line tape.  We especially use them when we make our photo cubes.  Sticky tape that would destroy normal scissors just peels right off of these. We love them! Each winner will receive a set of two pairs of scissors — a larger, 3 3/4″ pair and a smaller, 1 1/4″ pair for detail cutting.

So how do you win this awesome prize?

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, tell us the best (or worst) Valentine you ever received. Pretty easy, right? Go ahead and enter by leaving a comment below!

The deadline for entries is Monday, February 1, 2010, at 11:59 PM, EST.

RULES: One entry per person (determined by e-mail address). Two winners will be chosen at random from all valid entries received by the deadline. Winners will be contacted via e-mail within 48 hours of giveaway end date. Winners must reply within one week with a shipping address or prize will be forfeited and new winners will be chosen. If a winner’s shipping address is outside of the USA, that winner will be responsible for shipping costs.

WINNERS: Congratulations to our two winners, Brenda B and Iisha! Their comments were:

23. Brenda B: I am sitting here thinking, and there are no Valentine memories that stand out. Now that’s just sad…I think I should get the scissors to bring a little joy into my life…TeeHee :-P

20. Iisha: It would have to be Valentine’s day in 2008. We were living in CA and I called 2 months ahead to reserve a table for the special night for me and my DH. We get to the restaurant and they didn’t have our reservation but they squeezed us in and to our surprise they only had a limited menu and the cost per person $65 … winner shock … but we stayed since we knew everywhere else would be packed as well. It was an expensive meal of a lot of things I couldn’t eat (I was pregnant) but my DH and I had a great evening together.

Ladies, we hope you enjoy these scissors. They really are our favorite tools in our craft room!

Thanks to everyone else who entered. Your stories were awesome! Our husbands could learn a few lessons from you about what to do and what NOT to do! We hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and make great memories.

For those of you who didn’t win, you might want to pick up a pair of these great scissors for your toolbox. They are inexpensive and very useful! And everyone keep an eye on our giveaways page for our next giveaway!

Elementary school wasn’t the happiest experience for me. I was picked on all the time and no one liked me. I think the worst Valentine’s Day I ever had was in 3rd grade. I only received 10 valentine’s in my box (everyone else got 25). They all just said my name except one that said “To the ugly fat girl who smells bad.” uuuugghhhh. He was stupid enough to write his name on it, so my teacher gave him detention but that didn’t really help. He beat me up the next day for ratting on him!

My favorite anonymous quote is “Those with the biggest personalities have the biggest scars.” I believe that is true.

Maybe this terrible experience can win me awesome new scissors!

It wasn’t for Valentines, but my hubby *did* propose at the tomb of St. Valentine in Dublin. At the time, we’d just had a bit of a fight and I couldn’t believe he was proposing in a church where people were praying and lighting candles, so the first word out of my mouth was “no”. I quickly changed my mind and we made up, LOL!

The worst Valentine I ever received were all of the NON-valentine’s I had in high school… not receiving anything was way worse than any bad Valentine I received. ;) I hated walking through school and seeing all the girls with balloons and flowers… I never had anything. Luckily, my husband makes up for it now. :)

My husband is not one to focus on any particular day with that said, when I was working, I was the first one up to go thru the shower and when I got out there would be a cup of hot coffee always waiting for me! Now to me, that is Valentine’s Day everyday!

    5. Natalie said: (January 29th, 2010 at 11:56 am)

These are great! My scissors are always getting tape stuck on them.

hmmmm. I don’t think I have had a really bad valentine’s day. I don’t require my husband to go all out. If he feels the need to do something…. I usually tell him to find something at Michaels in the cake department. But the best would be when my 6 yr old son makes a valentine with his picture on it. I want to try the photo cube so bad… I’m a little confused though. hmmm maybe one day!

      oooooh LOVE those scissors!
The best valentine I ever rec’d was when my (then boyfriend, now husband) brought me downtown for V-Day dinner and I was “window shopping” for diamond engagement rings (as usual.) We passed by the store window that I always looked in to and I saw a ring that I LOVED. To make a long story short, it was MY ring. My hubby had bought it and put it on display in the window (the store folks were in on it and they spotlit the ring so I would notice it.) When I said I LOVE that ring–he went down on one knee and said “will you make me that happiest man alive on valentine’s day and say that you’ll marry me?” Then he went inside took the ring from the window and put it on my finger. That was the best Valentine EVER!

The best valentine I ever received was a dozen red roses with baby’s breath–AND– a large valentine-shaped brownie with chocolate icing! Ummmmmmmmmm. Remembering it makes me salivate even now.

Non-stick scissors-what a fab idea!!! Well, worst was probably a half eaten bag of peanut m&m’s-hubby and kids bought them on the way home and the kids started eating them in the back seat. However, the day at the spa that it came with totally made up for it, it was the best since I had just had baby #2!!

The best Valentine’s Days are those when you have a Valentine of your own. Valentine’s Day, without a Valentine is never any fun. Been there! I am thankful to my husband for being my Valentine, all year long.

My best valentine was the when my first child was born. She was actually born the day before but I have had a new reason to celerbrate ever since.

Those look like great scissors! I would love to win a set! I always loved when my grandchildren hand made valentine cards for me! Now, they love when I make them for them!

Wow! what an awesome and very useful blog giveaway!
I am always cleaning my scissors.
The best Valentine I ever recieved was one from my MIL. She knows I love vintage things and she gave me a Valentine that my FIL had sent to her years ago. It was very old, but in great condition and how sweet of her to give such a treasure to me.
The worst Valentine I ever recieved was from my funny sister. It was pitch black with an ugly pig on the front. Isn’t that a hoot!

    14. Vanessa said: (January 29th, 2010 at 1:39 pm)

      Oh, I NEED these scissors!!!

The best valentine I ever received was the year after my daughter was born. She was about 9 mo old at Valentine’s Day, and her Daddy made the cutest Valentine for me with her cute little handprints!

    15. Melissa said: (January 29th, 2010 at 1:50 pm)

My worst Valentine’s day was when I was 14 and my first ever boyfriend dumped me 2 days before Valentine’s day, then gave me a stuffed bear on Valentine’s day. I wanted to destroy that stupid bear! I guess my best Valentine’s day would be when I got pregnant with my son 2 years ago!

    16. Amanda said: (January 29th, 2010 at 1:58 pm)

You can never have too many scissors.

The best Valentine I ever got was a original poem from my now husband.

      Love the blog.

The best valentine was the first one my daughter was able to make. Being a HUGE crafter myself, she was so proud that she was able to make something for me.

Those are some pretty cool scissors BTW ;)

Oh my craft scissors get so sticky! These would be great!

I have had a lot of boyfriends and now a husband that don’t “do” Valentine’s gifts. But I remember my senior year boyfriend bringing a HUGE card, flowers and heart shaped box of candy to my house one year. I still have the card and the empty box. It makes me smile.

    19. Becca said: (January 29th, 2010 at 4:10 pm)

Before my husband and I were “seriously” dating, he made me a wood shelf to hang one of my favorite items I owned at the time….a quilt that was made for me from a very special friend who lives back east. It meant a lot to me at that time that a “boy” would notice that about a “girl” and be so cute about it :) Yah, that girl married that boy a few months later!

I don’t think I had a best or worst Valentine’s Day. But one of my favorite Valentine cards was one made by my young grandson that opened into a sign language “I Love You” hand.

Valentine’s Day can still be tough for married folks, with regular life going on around us, work and school schedules and stress stress stress. I remember our first Valentine’s day, when I wasn’t sure if I was getting anything from my then boyfriend (now husband). I still have the stuffed bear that came with a basket of bath things. He said that he hoped I would like the bear, that he wasn’t sure if I’d think it was lame, so he was so relieved when I hugged it.

Of course, if he’d bought be craft supplies that wouldn’t been a big hit too, but I guess guys don’t think that’s very romantic.

I live with a hubby and two grown sons and they are all hopeless in the holiday department. So I just get myself a present and then I am not disappointed.

Non-stick scissors what a great idea. I had to cut a bunch of sticky back velcro this last week and had to clean the scissors so many time. Wish I could have had them then.

My best Valentine’s Day ever was marrying my best friend … after years of unhappiness and thinking I’d never meet the right guy … we met by chance … became friends … fell in love … and got married on the most romantic day! We’ll celebrate our 20th anniversary (after everyone said it wouldn’t last 6 months!) this year! =)

    27. Bonnita said: (January 29th, 2010 at 10:12 pm)

Those scissors are GREAT! I’ve never been a big Valentines Day celebrator, but if my guy wants to get me something he knows gifts cards are my favorite! Thanks for another great giveaway!

Non stick, sounds awesome! my best valentines? hmmm… they are always best when my husband remembers the roses lol, thanks for the giveaway

Non-stick scissors would get some serious crafty love around here!

Worst Valentine’s day was in middle school when a boy I didn’t know broke into my locker and left me a small rose and a cryptic note — it completely freaked me out because I didn’t know who he was but he obviously knew me since he figured out which locker was mine and broke into it. It seemed very stalkerish and creepy, not at all romantic.

Best Valentine’s day was the year I wrote a get well card to a sweet boy I’d met at church. He had a malignant brain tumor and the letter I sent him happened to be post-marked on Valentine’s day. We started writing back and forth and became best friends throughout his treatment. One thing led to another and now we’ve been married for 11+ years! My husband has been cancer-free (in remission) for the past 15 years! : )

      Fondly,

When my husband and I were still dating and were attending two different schools several miles apart, he sent me a series of those small valentines you exchange in elementary school, one each day and surprised me with a visit over the weekend.

I have ruined many pairs of scissors because of cutting foam tape – I’d LOVE to get scissors that won’t get “gunked up” because of tape, so thanks for the opportunity!

BEST Valentine EVER: while I was asleep, my hubby sprinkled small red hearts from my side of the bed to the bathroom (where I head first-thing in the morning!), had heart messages taped to the mirror, then had another “path of hearts” from the bathroom to the kitchen where he put my cereal dish on a heart placemat, served me “pink lemonate” with breakfast, and gave me a beautiful card full of sweet thoughts. It was awesome and sure showed a lot of effort – I never fogot it!

I would have to say the best valentine I recieved was my husband. On February 14th we will be celebrating our 12th Wedding Anniversary! Worst? Don’t have one : /

    33. patti said: (January 31st, 2010 at 2:08 pm)

The best was 1983…I was pregnant with 1st child, the 3 ft of snow was melting and my husband, grandmother and I made a snowman in the 60′ weather (rare for Central NY in Feb)…never had a bad Valentines day

    34. Kara said: (February 1st, 2010 at 4:08 am)

The best Valentine’s Day I had was back in college. I wasn’t dating anyone at the time, and all day I complained about what a stupid holiday Valentine’s Day was. At the end of the day when I got home, there was a beautiful vase with a dozen red roses. They were from a guy that I had had only a few dates with so needless to say, I was shocked! (And singing a different tune about how I felt about Valentine’s Day!) lol

    35. Joanne said: (February 1st, 2010 at 9:28 am)

Love your website! Love these scissors!

My worst Valentine’s Day was the year my father-in-law died – on February 13th, in Arizona (we live in Massachusetts) and my husband flew out (on the 13th) to be with him and his mother just before he passed. I had to tell my kids on Valentine’s Day that their grampa had passed away and we had to wait 3 days before his body and my hubby and most of his family flew back east so he could be buried. That was a tough one but the rest have all been great thanks to the most wonderful husband on earth.

My worst Valentine’s Day? Last year. Hubby said he “forgot” it was Valentine’s Day?? Yeah, right.

    37. Shannon said: (February 1st, 2010 at 2:00 pm)

My birthday is right next door to Valentine’s Day so my worst Valentine’s Day involved a boyfriend took me out for dinner on my birthday and decided that counted as Valentine’s day too.

    38. Chariya said: (February 1st, 2010 at 2:11 pm)

Those non-stick scissors will be very helpful in my attempt to make wedding favors/boxes and other crafty stuffs for my wedding next year. :D

My worst Valentine’s Day was actually my fiance’s worst Valentine’s Day. We’re the type of couple that hardly celebrate V-day, but on that one particular V-day, my fiance decided to take me out to have a nice dinner. While we were enjoying our dinner, a classmate of mine suddenly appeared by our table to say Hi. She then quickly looked at my fiance and asked me “is that your dad?”. I took a quick look at my fiance as his face was turning red and replied back to my classmate that he is my fiance. She didn’t apologize, just nodded at me and quickly left our table. Our V-day dinner turned from happy chit-chat to solemn looks and brief conversation. At that time, my fiance was suffering from some low self-esteem, so my classmate’s comment didn’t help the situation.

I honestly can’t think of a “worst” or “best” since I’ve been married twice. Divorced once. What I can and always will remember was an unexpected surprise. I was divorced from my firs husband and working 2 jobs to make ends meet. I worked for a mom and pop store and we had a very small staff of 4. The boss’s wife, manager, stock boy and myself a salesperson. The boss not only sent his wife a dozen long stem roses, but also the manager and myself. It was such a surprise and so thoughtful. It totally made a “yucky” day a “wonderful” day. I will always remember that sentiment.

I’m really happy you found these scissors because my wonderful “new” husband could use them. He has the neat hobby where he cleans up vintage Star Wars figures and then re-cards them in new packaging. He has already killed a pair of scissors with the double sided sticky tape he uses to seal the plastic bubbles to the card. That’s after only 8 figures! Yikes!! :-)

      Thanks Again!!

One year my husband hired a guy to dress up as Mickey Mouse and deliver flowers to my office. We work at the same place, but I wondered why he was hanging around all morning – turned out he wanted to see Mickey. I was a little embarassed.

The worst gift I ever received had to be a print of a cliff, I am not sure if he was trying to tell me something but if he wasn’t he sure knew I was deathly afraid of heights!

The worst gift I ever received was nothing! DH is not much of a romantic. Love this blog by the way!
