Feature Friday – Crafty Chica products at Michael’s Posted by Jo
November 13, 2009
Jo

I am very fortunate to know two Chicas — my Chica here at Chica and Jo and Crafty Chica, otherwise known as Kathy Cano-Murillo.  We got to meet Kathy in person at the summer CHA show in Orlando. Kathy is amazing and just reading about everything she does exhausts me.  Let’s see, she has published multiple books, she makes her own videos and she is planning a crafting cruise next April. And that is all before I can even get my glue gun heated up!

But the big news is that she has her own line of craft products at Michael’s right now!  It isn’t in all of the stores but if you follow the link, you can find a store near you.  We have two Michael’s stores in our town and one of them had her line so I ran right over to make a few purchases and take some pictures of her display.  I know, it’s such a hardship for me to go to the craft store.  I bought two of her glitters and used the purple on my peacock napkin rings I wrote about Wednesday.  Her glitter is super-fine and the colors are bright and cheerful, just like Kathy!

Crafty Chica has offered a wonderful giveaway to our readers!  I wish I could enter to win but my Chica says that wouldn’t be quite fair.  All you have to do to win this awesome prize is leave a comment here by 12:00 AM, Thursday, November 19th, 2009.  If you go to your local Michael’s store and email us a photo of Crafty Chica’s display, you can have 3 chances to win!  Good luck everyone!

And the winner of 2 new iron on transfers, 3 jars of glitter and an advanced reader copy of her new novel is Susan M!

Just throwing my entry in here :) . I wish I had ANY craf store here. Getting my hands on decent craft supplies is a tough catch in my area. No Michaels, no Hobby Lobby, no craft section at our walmart, nothing! Any chance to win is better than no entry :) !

I’m going to have to make a trip to get some of her stuff. It’s about an hour away, but near the mom in-law so no biggie! :-)

I love the Crafty Chica! I found her videos on HGTV.com over a year ago and have wanted more ever since. I am so glad Michael’s is now carrying a Crafty Chica line of products! woo hoo!

Kathy has been the “Crafty Chica” inspiration in my life for several years now (since the early days of Get Crafty!). It was so exciting to get her new products here in Miami at Michaels, but sadly only Northern Florida (which is another country…) will have any new Crafty Chica products. Which is sad, because there is a GIGANTIC latin population here in Miami and actually, it was Kathy’s art work that made me excited to live in such a population. Well, i’ve learned a lot about the different latin cultures and for the most part it’s very different here in Miami. No crafty artsy fartsy barely at all. High fallutin art, yes. But REAL PEOPLE art…covered in glitter….NOPE. Sad, sad, sad…
