Halloween party wrap-up Posted by Jo

The kids had a lot of fun at the Halloween party this past weekend.  I wanted to share a few photos with you all of them enjoying the games and so you could see some of the cute costumes.  We hosted the party in our barn so that is why you see so much hay!

We played the classic game of bobbing for apples.  You can see Super Mario here trying his luck.  His sister, the witch, decided that playing with the barn cat is more fun than getting her face wet.

One of the favorite games of the day was the digging for treasure.  I think this was a favorite because a prize was a sure thing!  I filled a box with cedar shavings and buried little prizes all throughout it.  The kids had a great time excavating for the prizes.  The cedar shavings worked great for this because they aren’t heavy or messy.  I put them inside a long and narrow box but you could also use a large tub or kiddie pool.

One of the kids’ favorite games was the “doughnut eating game”.  You simply tie a small doughnut onto some fishing line at the correct height for each child.  Then, the kids have to eat it without using their hands.  The first kid to either finish the doughnut completely (or to eat the most before the rest of it falls on the floor) wins!  You can see “Little Jo” there with the princess pumpkin dress on that Chica made her.  She decided that the ensemble wouldn’t be complete without cat ears!  I don’t ask when it comes to her fashion sense.

This looks like a wonderful party! I had forgotten about that donut game — it will join my repertoire for sure. I’m sorry it took several days for me to swing back around, but Chica’s candy corn treat bags were pure genius! Sooo quick and soooooo cute! I made 18 of them (!) and they turned out really well. I also made one of the dips you linked to! Thanks a million for the inspiration!

Hi Mary! So glad to hear that the bags came out well. That donut game is tons of fun, even for adults. I even played one round with the kids at the party :)
