Feature Friday – Halloween jar luminaries Posted by Chica

We just love it when we learn about new sites from our readers, and we found a real gem this week at Crafts by Amanda. Browse around her blog and I guarantee it won’t take long for you to find a few projects you want to try. She’s got a super collection of everyday crafts year round, but this month she has a slew of great Halloween ideas. From clothespin vampire bats to witch’s hats to a spooky eyeball bucket, she’s got plenty of stuff to help you have a crafty Halloween!

I was particularly inspired by the painted jar luminaries that she made for Halloween. What a great way to use up unneeded canning jars. Or to turn it into a recycling lesson for the kids, you can re-use glass food jars from things like mayonnaise or olives!

The idea is so simple, but the results are just amazing! I was smitten by the process as soon as she started explaining it, but the second she sprayed those painted jars with clear glaze, I was full-out in love with them. Glossy finishes make me so happy! Be sure to visit Amanda’s project page for full details.

Thanks for featuring my goblins :) My kids love them and can’t wait to light them at night. We’ve had rain for the last couple of night so they remain dark, but that glaze is holding up in the rain! Thanks again for your kind words and for featuring me :)

We’re happy to share your project with our readers, Amanda. I’m going to make some of these myself this weekend!
