Football season party tips Posted by Jo

The leaves are changing color here and there’s a brisk bite to the air in the evenings.  Fall is descending and that means harvest festivals, back-to-school, trick-or-treat candy and football!  We’ve had quite a few posts about football here on Chica and Jo related to tailgating and football parties.  I wanted to take this chance here at the beginning of the season to share them with you again.

Party / Tailgating Food

  1. Candy bar brownies:  these are so rich and decadent, they are the perfect complement to the usually salty tailgating fare.
  2. Chica’s bold Chex mix:  speaking of salty fair, this is Chica’s twist on the traditional party mix.
  3. Cheddar, bacon and onion bread:  this is pull-apart goodness and the flavors combine so well!
  4. Bubble bread: our version of a restaurant favorite, these cheesy bread is a real party favorite.
  5. Dried beef roll-ups:  these are my favorite.  I literally can’t stop eating them once they are made.  And if you make them with fat free cream cheese, there are less than 100 calories in 7 of them!
  6. Kettle corn:  a simple recipe that can easily satisfy the munchies for a large crowd.

Tips for tailgating

Tailgating is sometimes even more fun than the actual football game.  Chica and I have tailgated many times with our friends and family over the years and are looking forward to another fun season of it.  Take a look at our tailgating tips post we did last year.  Please share with us in the comments below any additional tips or fun new ideas.  We would also love to see any outlandish tailgating pictures you might have.  My younger brother has a group of friends planning to load a dump truck up with ice and cold beverages for the first home game of our local college team.  If this occurs, I promise I will share pictures!

Planning a big party for Super Bowl XLV and need more ideas? Bring it all together with a Super Bowl XLV party pack, then display the food on a football rectangular platter. And the armchair quarterbacks in your group will have fun during the game if you provide them with their own penalty flags!
