Procrastination at its best Posted by Jo

house3aDo you remember the advent calendar house that Chica wrote about last year? This one? This adorable house with all of the adorable pieces for each day leading up to Christmas? Well, I also worked on one while she was doing hers. Mine is a stone house instead of brick but for the most part they are exactly the same. Except for one minor detail. Hers is finished, mine is not. Yes, that’s right, mine is still in pieces and it is well past the advent season of 2008.  It is my goal to actually finish this project before advent of 2009.  I figured if I came on here and publicly stated this goal, I would be held a little more accountable.  So, dear readers, I am leaving this project out on one of my work tables so I will actually be inspired to complete it.  I really do want to finish it because Chica’s is so darn cute I am jealous she already used hers.  Most of you probably think it is too early for me to be worrying about such a thing but trust me, I can be quite the procrastinator at times!  To make me feel better, do any of you all have some craft projects collecting dust in your house?

I mainly sew home decor, but get too distracted with craft projects I want to “try”. I have 3-4 that I can think of and about 8 pieces of furniture to be reupholstered! One craft is to paint two light up christmas houses that my mother gave me when my 16 year old was one(?)!

JJK, you have me beat with your Christmas houses! However, I think I do have some needlepoint projects I started while in college. I love the idea of needlepoint and love starting them but can never seem to finish. I wonder why that is?

I have a needlepoint of a rocking chair that I started in 1991 or 1992. That’s probably the oldest. That’s not counting the 3 totes of projects I have put away until I have more time.

You guys have just reminded me of the cross-stitch Risk! game board that I started 5 years ago and never finished. I think I only got through one continent. What was I thinking??

I started an Advent calendar for 2007 but only got to day 5, I think. As a fellow procrastinator, I don’t think it’s too early at all. I was just looking at photos last week to get ideas because I’m determined to have one done for this year. (By the way, I just received my order from your shop — thank you! Both items are great.)

Mary, what kind of Advent calendar did you start? Have you found any unusual ideas for this year? We would love to see them if you have. Glad your order arrived safely!
