This past weekend, I helped host a baby shower for a close friend of ours. Part of my baby shower duties included sending out the invitations. I often try to do something a little out of the ordinary so I came up with an invitation that was both informative and a game!
To each guest, I sent a plain, wood picture frame in the mail. Within the picture area, I inserted a piece of paper with the party information printed on it as well as the instructions as to what to do with the frame. My thought was to have each guest decorate the frame for the mom-to-be to use to hold all of those baby photos she was sure to take as a new mommy! To help the guests with some decorating direction, I told them the colors of the nursery and that it had a robot theme. I also asked each guest to include a picture of herself as a baby/toddler in her frame to bring to the party.
As the guests arrived with the frames, I put a small sticker on each of them with a number. When it was time to start playing the games, I had each guest announce her name so the other guests could write it down to make a list. Then, we passed the picture frames around and the guests had to match the baby in the picture to the guests in the room! It was a lot of fun not only trying to match the baby face to the adult face but it was also fun to look at how all of the frames were decorated. Somebody managed to identify all 16 of the entries correctly! Completely amazing!
Here’s a picture of all the decorated frames and a few pictures of individual entries. Everyone was so creative and the mom-to-be was thrilled!
