Feature Friday – Make mini doll cakes and pies Posted by Chica
March 27, 2009

My niece has a doll house and has been having fun decorating it with all sorts of furnishings and tiny items. She asked me recently if we could make her dolls a tiny cake, so I started looking for ideas online. I was thrilled to find Cathie Filian’s blog which had a great tutorial for creating the cutest little mini sponge cakes and pies.

Made from simple items like sponges, felt, and beads, these tiny cakes and pies are so adorable and sweet that you won’t believe how easy they are to make. My niece is going to love them!

Cathie is an incredible crafter, the co-host of a TV show called “Creative Juice”, the author of several books (check out Bow Wow WOW! for amazing dog costume ideas), and national spokesperson for Plaid (makers of two of my favorite craft supplies — Mod Podge and Apple Barrel acrylic paint). What a busy gal! Go check out her blog to see what else she and partner Steve Piacenza have cooked up.
