If you are a regular reader, this might seem like an odd topic for us to blog about but for Chica and Jo, it’s been the only thing we can think about for the past four days. We both managed to catch the flu together and have had the joy of sharing the exact same symptoms at the exact same time. Misery does love a bit of company and misery also loved the items on the following list we compiled while storing up our energy on our respective couches.
If you are unfortunate enough to catch the flu or know someone who is suffering, try a few of the things on our list, they just might make you feel just a bit better:
- Tamiflu: anti-viral drug you can get from your doctor. You must take it during the first 24-48 hours of symptom onset for it to be effective.
- Liquids: Jo has preferred gallons of Sprite Zero while Chica has been mixing her orange juice with carbonated water for a fizzy, yet Vitamin C induced beverage. You need to keep hydrated!
- Pain reliever
: whatever works but you will need a steady supply for a few days.
- Chicken soup: it’s not a myth. Chicken soup does make you feel better and gets even more liquids into you.
- Tissues: Chica’s husband bought her Puffs Plus tissues with Vicks
and now she is a huge fan.
- Can of Lysol
: disinfect your surroundings to make your house mates like you more.
- Vicks VapoRub
: if you don’t get enough from the tissues, spread some of this salve all over your chest at night to make breathing a lot easier.
- Entertainment: Chica and Jo have caught up on their television watching and Jo read the latest novel by her favorite author, Patricia Sprinkle
without having to stay up all night to have the time to do it.
- Lip balm: the stuffy nose tends to dry out the lips so make sure you have some lip balm on hand. Jo’s favorite is Beeswax Lip Balm by Burt’s Bees
I believe we are both on the mend and should be back to tackling life’s projects this week. Never fear, we also spent the weekend writing up already completed projects to share with you all!
